13 Reasons Why

I should start this post by telling you that I read the book prior to watching the series, so I’m going to do that annoying thing and make loads of comparisons.

I loved the book so so much and was so excited for the series, and I did end up loving it, barre a few details…

I won’t lie to it take me a few episodes to really get into it. I think this was because the pace of the show is so different from the book – I was expecting Clay to speed through the tapes in one night…

But I thought it was good adaptation, I thought the casting cast pretty spot on. I adore Selena Gomez but I can’t imagine anyone but Katherine Langford playing Hannah! I liked the changes to Courtney & Hannah’s storyline, I thought they were well done. The one plot change I didn’t love was the lawsuit, I just don’t know if I think the Bakers would do that?

But I don’t think Justin shot himself, it’s too obvious! Even if he did clean up his room in the same way as Hannah… I cannot wait for season two after that ending. I hope Bryce gets some justice!!

If you haven’t started the series or you’re finding a bit slow like I initially did, give it a go & stick with it. I would definitely recommend the book whether you’ve seen the series or not!

I’d love to know your thoughts on the book/series!
PS: as I type this on my work lunch break I can overhear a conversation next to me, calling Hannah’s suicide an ‘overreaction’. ‘I don’t really think it was enough for her to kill herself’. I think the guy that said that should just feel grateful that he doesn’t understand…

  1. First I’d like to say that I don’t think her suicide was an overreaction. If any one could understand the pacing well its u and me. They slowed it down so we could see her slowly fade away. With each and every event acted on to her we saw her affected.
Maybe one had to have gone through similar events or life throwing one thing after another in your way to understand how she could have been lead that way.
I enjoyed the series enough to not want a second season. I feel like they’d be yanking on thin strings trying to pull together another beautiful tapestry.
